Working for Us
Working for Ascension Island Government offers a unique opportunity to make a positive and practical difference to life on a remote British Overseas Territory.
The Ascension Island Government (AIG) provides a diverse range of services to the local community, from construction to teaching to marine conservation. No two days are the same.
As a place to live and work, Ascension offers a positive work-life balance with all the attractions of island life right on your doorstep – an excellent climate, fishing, diving, snorkelling and walking, to name a few.
During our application process for work you will be asked if you have any criminal convictions. This should exclude any spent convictions under Section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, unless the job involves working with vulnerable adults or children. In this case, cautions, bind-overs, pending prosecutions and spent convictions must be declared. If a post involves working with children or vulnerable adults, the Job Description will clearly outline a requirement for an Enhanced Criminal Record Check.
