All visitors to Ascension
Island require entry
approval prior to travel. All visitors
must complete and return the "Ascension Island Entry
Permit" prior to traveling. This form may be downloaded
here(PDF
format, right click and select "Save Target As...")
and should be faxed back to +(247) 6152.

The Ascension Island entry
permit is the equivalent of a travel Visa. If you do not have pre approved entry permission
you will most likely not receive permission to travel.
This applies to all visitors who intend to clear passport
control, including those who are transfering from ship
to plane and vice versa.
Please submit your entry form at the earliest opportunity
to enable immigration procedures to take place prior to
the issue of your flight ticket. In normal circumstances
please allow a minimum of 28 days.
Urgent applications should be marked as such and faxed
to +(247) 6152.
All visitors must be in possession of a full
medical insurance policy which covers medical evacuation
by air. You must have personal medical
insurance before traveling.
If you are employed on Ascension Island your employer
might provide medical insurance on your behalf; please
make sure before you travel.
Either by Air: Via Royal Air Force departing
from the United Kingdom or the Falkland Islands (more details
below and at: www.ascension-flights.com).
By the Royal Mail
Ship "Saint Helena" which
cruises between Portland - Tenerife - Ascension Island
- St Helena - Walvis bay - Capetown (and occasionally Tristan
Da Cunha). It also has a programme of "shuttles" back and
forth between St. Helena and Ascension Island. The RMS
can carry up to 137 passengers. Full details of the Royal

Notes:
Only 20 seats per flight are allocated to civilians, therefore
advance bookings are recommended.
You will require the Administrator's permission
for you to travel to the Island.
On 1 April 2002 customs duties were introduced
on alcohol, tobacco and petrol/diesel. Arriving passengers
may have personal imports duty free up to the following
amounts per adult:
200 cigarettes OR 250 gms tobacco
1 litre of spirits
2 litres of wine OR 12 x 340 mls beer

There is no public transport system on Ascension. It is
usually possible to hire a car from the Obsidian Hotel Ascension
Island, for £20 a day.
